With a 4-cylinder 2.0 liter FA boxer engine, delivering an enormous 200 horsepower, producing 150 pound feet torque, slinging from 0 t0 60 mph in just 6.2 seconds, the Scion's FR-S fits the description of the sports car the enthusiasts were waiting for. Toyota's and Subaru's collaborated Scion brand has done rather well in the US. With all the features of a sports car one can ask for and with a base price tag of $24,000($730 destination charges extra), has got the car enthusiasts grooving. The customers feedback and the sales stats so far in the states is overwhelming.

The EPA ratings revealed by Scion are quite impressive. Points that the FR-S is capable of delivering 30 mpg on highway with manual transmission and 34 mpg for the same with automatic transmission. Pretty good, isn't it. Well with such an impressive fuel economy figures for a sports car, the Scion's FR-S is sure to make it's mark in the market. Jack Hollis, Vice President of Scion, emphasized the fact that the 2013 FR-S has a strong network and is available throughout the US across 1000 dealerships. To locate the nearest dealer, visit Find A Dealer and you can search for dealer by your zip code or city.

Scion's Vice President Jack Hollis has high sales hopes for its new rear-wheel-drive FR-S sports car. "We're confident we can sell every one we get our hands on," Hollis stated. According to the Vice President of Scion, he anticipates sales as high as 20,000 units per annum. For the current year Scion's hopes to sell 10,000 units, with 20,000 units for the year 2013. With 1,243 pre-sale orders the automaker is on the right trajectory. Almost of the same generation, from one of the parent company, Subaru's BRZ will also be sold in the United States. But the future doesn't seems to be as bright as of the FR-S. Subaru only hopes to sell between 5,000 and 7,000 units per annum. With a large network of Scion's dealers, hopes are high for the FR-S. And so far things worked out in their favor.

Following are the sale stats for the Scion's FR-S in the States and Canada for the month of June.

United States: 2770 units

Scion FR-S Review : Move yourself into a new dimension

Scion FR-S

The Hot Red Scion FR-S

Half-Toyota, half-Subaru, lightweight, rear-drive, boxer powered sports car Scion FR-S is ready to rule the streets. The FR-S takes the best of both worlds using Toyota engineering and Subaru’s boxer engine. The Scion FR-S is a spiritual successor to the 1983-1987 Corolla AE86 Hachi-roku. The LED headlights and taillights, the muscular wheel arches, the enormous rear diffuser, are all gone. Despite that, Scion's FR-S still has a mean look and at least they
kept the double exhaust pipes, left and right. The production version of the Scion FR-S will be powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine developed by Subaru. It has a front engine / rear-wheel-drive architecture and promises to be a lot of fun to drive.

The FR-S is a seeming diversion from the FWD vehicles Toyota has been known for during the past 25 years. It features a longitudinally mounted engine with a choice of six-speed manual transmission or an available six-speed automatic transmission. Affordability is key, with the manual tranny model checking in at $24,200, while the paddle-shifting automatic will cost $25,300.

Power comes from a zesty  naturally aspirated 2.0-litre engine, the product of a symbiotic relationship between Toyota and Subaru. Mounted front mid-ship, it is touted as being the world’s first horizontally opposed D-4S engine
created from the combined DNA of Subaru’s newly developed engine technology and Toyota’s D-4S direct-injection technology. This is not the first time that a Toyota brand vehicle has used a boxer-style engine. Toyota’s first sports car, the late 1967s Sport 800, had a flat two cylinder that produced, wait for it, 45 horsepower.

As for the cabin, the FR-S sticks to the functional, a clear indication the designers don’t want the driver to be distracted by a plethora of buttons that typifies many a modern sports car’s center stack. Rather, it’s to the point and straightforward. That said, it lacks a little flair for my taste. Then again, the FR-S’s attractive exterior makes up for it more than adequately.

BOTTOM LINE
Scion has never been a sales leader for the Toyota brand, but maybe things are about to change.

With the quirky, boxy designs nearly excised and hot fastbacks like this FR-S in place, Akio Toyoda’s dream of a car that buyers will become passionate about should easily come to pass. That they will become fanatical about it is a big likelihood, as well.

Scion FR-S Prices

The Scion's new FR-S is almost ready to rock-n-roll. And with it the speculation about the price ends, as the official word is out on the street. “Scion’s goal was to create an affordable sports car that true driving enthusiasts could enjoy,” Scion Vice President Jack Hollis has said. “We accomplished that with a starting price under $25,000, which is a total home run for buyers” he boasted when announcing pricing and availability in March this year. The Scion FR-S, which stands for Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport; is Scion's definition of an authentic rear-wheel-drive sports car with exceptionally balanced performance and handling, compelling style, flexible utility and surprising MPG. This isn't all. With a 2.0 liter engine, producing an enormous 200 Horsepower the Scion FR-S slings from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.2 seconds.

Base Price: $24,930 - $26,030

As far as the price of the Scion FR-S is concerned, there will only be one trim level for the FR-S with buyers having the option of a six-speed manual gearbox model that starts at $24,200 (€18,300) or a 6-speed automatic transmission model with paddle shifters and an asking price of $25,300 (€19,200). If you add a $730 destination and handling fee, prices rise to $24,930 and $26,030 for the manual and automatic models respectively. Sales will begin from the first week of June. For more details on the release dates, visit Scion FR-S Release Dates.

The rear-wheel drive FR-S is powered by a 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated flat four engine sourced from Subaru but tweaked by Toyota that delivers 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of peak torque. Among other standard features, the 2+2 seater FR-S gets a leather-trimmed steering wheel with both tilt and telescopic adjustment, sport front seats, FR-S badged floor mats, an eight-speaker AM/FM/CD/USB 300-watt Pioneer audio system and Bluetooth connectivity. If you ask me, that is a real value for money deal.
